I was raised on a farm in Northwood, NH and got my first pony at age six. When only eight, I started competing in multiple disciplines beginning with riding and driving in “Pet Type Pony” divisions at local shows, many classes at Deerfield Fair and the A show circuit in Saddleseat Equitation all the way to The Big E. I did six, 50 mile Competitive Trail Rides and showed Hunt seat Equitation. Then, in my late teens, I learned about 3-Day Eventing – WOW!

Years of training and riding in eventing took me to the USEA sanctioned Preliminary level (while having and raising three children!).  Teaching others, buying and selling horses were natural ways to finance my passion. We hitched up and drove almost everything that came in for boarding and training and all my horses and most students went to hunter pace events, hunter trials, jumper shows and clocked many miles on the trail.

All through those years, I took lessons and clinics with knowledgeable teachers in the event and dressage world. The USEA clinics with Jimmy Wofford at Ledyard Farm in Hamilton, MA, were some of the best and most influential to me.  As a result of the above experiences, I teach a classical balance seat to ride in harmony with the horse not only in a ring but to jump and ride safely in the open over varied terrain at a controlled speed.

Maximar, my homebred Hanoverian cross and I had a successful ’09 season. Qualifying for the USEA Area I championships at our first outing and wrapped up the season with some very helpful lessons from Nancy Guyotte. I also find time to ride and drive our young Percheron/Dutch mare, Olympia. She and I completed a combined driving event, held here at Trinity, winning the dressage and coming in second overall. This fall, we added another equine member to our family Puddy, a Haflinger gelding for me to drive and use for lessons.

Even if your goal is just pleasure riding or driving, my experience and techniques in eventing and combined driving will help guide you to a better relationship with your horse. BEGINNERS ARE WELCOME.
